On the Home screen, tap "Settings" > "General" > "Siri" to open the Siri settings screen.
Tap the "Siri" toggle switch to the on position. This will allow you to use it right away.
Before enabling the feature, just make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
Turn on "Allow Hey Siri", which lets you activate Siri by just saying "Hey Siri" without touching your iPhone.
* On earlier devices (than iPhone 6s / 6s Plus), "Hey Siri" works only when they are plugged in.
⇒ How to set up and work with "Hey Siri"
Siri currently supports 16 languages including English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Chinese etc.
Using Siri as a language learning app would be exciting, challenging Siri with questions or requests in a foreign language and see how much she understands you.
You can change the voice gender of Siri from the default female to male.
While Siri is known as a voice-assistant program, you can set it to silence to only show text response, or set it to provide voice feedback only when using headphones or a Bluetooth device with your iPhone.
"Always On" - The voice feedback feature is always activated even when the iPhone is in silent mode.
"Control with Ring Switch" - Siri voice can be turned on/off by pressing the Ring/Silent switch located on the side of the iPhone. However, when you are using the "Hey Siri" feature or talk to her through your headphones mic, she will give you her audio comments even in silent mode.
"Hands-Free Only" - This option will tell Siri to give you audio feedback only when you are using the "Hey Siri" command, and when the iPhone is connected to your headphones or Bluetooth headsets.
Under "My Info", choose your name from the Contacts list so that you can tell Siri which contact is yours. This will allow Siri to accommodate your requests with your personal details such as:
"Navigate me home."
"Remind me to call mom when I get to the office."
In order to have Siri learn more about you, it is recommended that you add your basic information to your own contact card including home address, office address, phone number as well as your family members' information.
Siri uses Location Services when giving you location-based information such as your local weather, restaurants and other businesses near you. When the Service is disabled, she cannot answer your questions like "Will it rain tomorrow?" or "What's the best Italian restaurant nearby?"
To enable the function, open the "Settings" app on the Home screen, and go to "Privacy" > "Location Services". Once "Location Services" is turned on, all your apps using Location Services will be listed on the screen. Then tap "Siri & Dictation" and place a checkmark next to "While Using the App".
Now you can get appropriate answers from Siri for your location-related questions.
<$mt:Include module="thAdInArticle" blog_id="40" $>To call up Siri, either say "Hey Siri" or hold down the Home button.
When Siri is activated, try speaking to her.
Siri works from the locked screen (in sleep mode) by holding down the Home button to summon her.
If you do not want Siri to work when the iPhone is locked, you can disable the ability via the "Settings" app: Go to "Touch ID and Passcode", and turn off the Siri switch under the ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED section.
To ask Siri another question, tap the microphone icon and then speak to her.
Siri is showing results as soon as you stop speaking to her. If you have even a very short pause between words, that makes Siri to think you are done and she will answer your question. However, it sometimes happens that you are uncertain about what to say during a conversation with her and need more time to consider your question.
To avoid this frustration, speak to her with the Home button held down until you are completely finished with that question, and then release the button. This may be helpful especially when you are not sure how or what to ask Siri, making it possible for you to speak at your own pace.
When you give Siri a voice command, sometimes she does not understand what you are saying and does not respond to you properly. In such cases, you can just tap the text (what Siri heard) and edit it with the keyboard. If the text is not displayed, swipe down the screen from the top to view the words.
There are dozens of things you can ask Siri and here are some examples of what Siri is capable of.

- Basic elements of "Reminders" : List and Reminder
- Get a reminder at a specific time and date
Tap "Reminders" on the Home screen.
The Reminders app is basically comprised of two elements: List and Reminder. "Reminder" is a system for daily notifications of personal events, tasks, appointments, etc., such as "buy milk this evening" or "visit Company A at 3 pm tomorrow", while "List" serves as something like a file folder that can help sort these reminders into specific groups.
For example, a list named "To Buy" seems to be an appropriate location to store the reminder "buy milk this evening", and a list titled "Plan" or "Schedule" would be a good place for "visit Company A at 3 pm tomorrow" to be saved.
In the Reminders app, all reminder items must be stored in any of the lists.
- List
When you launch the app for the first time, two lists (Scheduled and Reminders) will be displayed on the screen.
This "Reminders" is one of the lists that has already been created by default, though the name (Reminders) may confuse you as to what it actually is at first.
The Reminders list is useful in case where a reminder item belongs to general category or does not belong to any of the categories in the existing lists.
The screen with several lists added will look like the image on the left. The number on the right side of each list represents how many reminders it contains.
If you have Family Sharing set up on your device that is logged in to your iCloud account, a list named "Family" will be automatically added to your app so that you can share the list with your family members.
- Reminder
Tapping a list will display a list of reminders contained in the list.
Let's create a new list. You can remove the default Reminders list from your app, unless you need it (described below).
Tap the "+" icon near the top-right corner of the list screen. In case the icon is hidden, swipe down the screen to make it appear.
Tap "List" in the pop-up selection menu.
Enter the list name in the area of New List. If you want a different color for the text, choose a color and tap "Done".
A new list has been created.
Then tap an empty list (use "To Buy" list in here) to add a new reminder. Tapping the Return key on the keyboard allows you to move to the next line to create a new reminder. When you are finished, tap "Done" to complete the process. Now you see new reminders added to the list.
In order to return to the list screen from the reminder screen, tap the list name area, flick down the screen, or tap the bottom of the screen.
When you press hard on the Reminders app icon on the Home screen, a shortcut menu will appear on the screen. Using the menu, you can add a new reminder to the app.
The Reminders app has a notification function that allows you to set a time and date as well as a place when and where you want to be reminded.
Select a reminder to which you want to apply advanced settings from the list of reminders, and then tap the "i" icon shown on the right edge of the item.
- Remind me on a day
When the Details screen shows up, toggle the switch for "Remind me on a day" to the on position. Then tap "Alarm", and set a reminder time and date.
A reminder with a specific time and date will be automatically displayed in the "Scheduled" list.
- Repeat
If you need to repeat a reminder at specific intervals, "Repeat" is a convenient option of notifying you on a regular basis. There are several choices available such as "Every Day", "Every Week", "Every 2 Weeks", in addition to "Custom" which allows you to specify a reminder frequency as you like.
- End Repeat
In case "Repeat" is set, you may also use "End Repeat" to set the endpoint on the repeat. Tap "End Repeat Date" to place a checkmark on it. Set each wheel to the time and date you desire, and tap "Done" to finish the setting.
Now you will be taken back to the Details screen. Tap "Done" at the upper-right of the screen to complete the setup.
With the app, you can set a reminder based on not only time and date but also location.
For example, if you set a reminder for home, you can receive a notification when you arrive home and/or when you leave home.
- Enable "Remind me at a location"
On the Details screen, turn on "Remind me at a location", and tap "Location". Enter a place name or address in the search bar. Then in the search results list displayed below the search bar, tap the result you were looking for.
- Choose when you want be reminded
Select "When I Arrive" or "When I Leave". Tap "Details" at the top-left corner to return to the Details screen, where you tap "Done" at the upper-right of the screen to complete the setup.
- Reminder location setting completed
A reminder location has been set.
If you assign Priority to your reminder, an exclamation mark (!) will be added to the left of the reminder title.
Tapping "List" lets you move a reminder from a list, with which the reminder is currently associated, to other list.
You can also add a note to your reminder.
When you create a reminder using Siri or without specifying a list for it to be stored, it will be added to your default list. To specify which list should be your default list, open the Settings app on the Home screen, tap "Reminders" under the Settings section, and then tap "Default List".
<$mt:Include module="thAdInArticle" blog_id="40" $>You can change the list order by pressing and holding on a list item and then dragging it up or down.
There are several things that can be changed through the "Edit" button on the reminder screen (rename a list, delete a reminder, change a text color and change the order of reminders). In addition to them, if the device is logged in to your iCloud account, you can set up Sharing to share a reminder with other iCloud users. Moreover, tapping "Delete List" at the bottom of the screen allows you to remove the entire list from your device.
You can delete a reminder that has been completed. However, there is a way to hide it by checking it off as "complete" and the hidden item can be shown again at any time.
On the reminder screen, tap on the "○" checkbox on the left edge of the reminder item (your completed task), seeing the number of reminders displayed at the top-right corner go down.
Then go back to the list screen, and open the above list again
Now the completed item has been hidden. If you want to show it again, tap "Show Completed" at the bottom of the screen.
If you receive a reminder notification while the iPhone is in use, you have two choices to respond to the notification: to "Mark as Completed", or to be reminded "Later" that will give you snooze options to postpone the notification to a later time.
* While the iPhone is locked, reminder notifications are displayed in the same way as other apps' notifications are.
- Pop-up notification
- Banner notification
If you have reminders that are due or already overdue, you will be notified of them by a badge on the Reminders app icon that tells you how many reminders are currently due/overdue.

Then, press the "+" key.
* Press the "-" key, if you want to calculate the price after discount.
Enter a percentage of the tip that you wish to leave (for example, enter "15" for 15%).
Press the "%" key to show the amount of the tip on Calculator.
By pressing the "=" key, the total amount including the tip will be displayed on the screen.
iOS device - iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 8 or later
Mac - Mac with OS X Yosemite or El Capitan
Web browser (iCloud.com) - Safari 5 or later (Mac), IE 10 or later (PC), Firefox 21 or later (Mac/PC) and Google Chrome 27 or later (Mac/PC)
To access iCloud Drive files on your iOS device, the dedicated iCloud Drive app must be enabled in advance.
On the Home screen, open "Settings" > "iCloud", and tap "iCloud Drive".
Before you start using iCloud Drive, you must upgrade your iCloud account to use the cloud storage.
If the account has not been upgraded to iCloud Drive yet, the upgrade screen will show up as seen on the left image. Then tap "Upgrade to iCloud Drive".
After confirming "iCloud Drive" is enabled, turn the "Show on Home Screen" toggle to the on position.
The "iCloud Drive" app has now appeared on the Home screen so that you can work on your files, by editing them or doing other tasks, stored in iCloud Drive using the device.
In order to use iCloud Drive on Windows, you will need to download and install iCloud for Windows on your computer.
When the installation is complete, sign in to iCloud for Windows. Then place a checkmark next to "iCloud Drive" and click "Apply".
iCloud for Windows creates a new folder named "iCloud Drive" in File Explorer, where you can find all the data that you have saved in iCloud Drive at any time. In addition, as you usually do with other files, you can work with your iCloud Drive files on your Windows PC - add things to the existing files, create new files and save them in the cloud storage, and move files with a drag and drop operation.
Launch "System Preferences" and select "iCloud". Then click on the checkbox to the left of "iCloud Drive".
Now you should see a new folder called "iCloud Drive" in the Finder window. To access the files in iCloud Drive, simply click the folder.
Plus, iCloud Drive is accessible through a web browser on your Windows PC and Mac.
Log in to iCloud.com, and on the Home screen select "iCloud Drive".
iCloud Drive at iCloud.com lets you manage all your files and folders - download and upload files, remove files, create new folders, and rename folders. It also allows you to attach files to your email message when you use iCloud Mail.
]]> ]]>Launch the Photos app, and open "Moments" by tapping the "Photos" tab located in the bottom left corner (you can do the following operation in your Camera Roll too). Peek at the thumbnail of the photo or video you want to hide by pressing it down, and then swipe it up. When the pop-up selection menu appears, tap "Share".
Once the share menu comes up, tap "Hide", and then choose "Hide Photo" on the pop-up confirmation menu.
You can hide multiple photos/videos at a time by swiping right or left the thumbnails shown above the share menu and placing checkmarks on those you want to hide.
The photo is now invisible on the Moments screen.
If you are not an iPhone 6s / 6s Plus user, there is another way to hide your photo via the Share button.
Open "Moments" or "Camera Roll" in the Photos app, and tap "Select" at the upper right of the screen. Then, tap on the photo that you would like to hide to place a checkmark, and tap the Share button at the bottom left corner. If you want to hide more than one photo, multi-select the photos, with checkmarks, at once by swiping through on the thumbnail images. ⇒ iOS 9 - New feature in Photos app: Select multiple photos with swipe gesture
Now the share menu is open. Then, tap "Hide", as you did in the steps above in the 3D Touch section.
Your hidden photos and videos are stored in the "Hidden" album in "Albums" which is automatically created when you hide those items.
To unhide your hidden photo, follow the same steps as you did for hiding the image.
- Unhide via "Select" button
In the Hidden album, tap "Select" at the upper right of the screen. Then, place a checkmark that you wish to unhide, and tap the Share button.
- Unhide with 3D Touch
In the same way as you hid your photo in the earlier step, swipe up the Peek preview, and tap "Share".
When the share menu is open, tap "Unhide" to get the photo displayed back on the Moments or other associated screens.
In order to locate your iPhone using "Find My iPhone", you must have the option enabled on that device. To activate it, go to "Settings" on the Home screen, choose "iCloud" and "Find My iPhone" in that order, and turn the option on.
The GPS app for finding your iPhone is called "Find iPhone" and is in the Utilities folder on the Home screen. Tap the app to open it.
Enter your Apple ID and Password to sign in "Find My iPhone".
A pop-up notification may appear on the screen, asking you to "Turn On Send Last Location". If you turn on this option, that allows the last known location of your lost device to be automatically sent to Apple when the battery runs out. You can set this up by going to "Settings" > "iCloud" > "Find My iPhone" to enable "Send Last Location" as well.
When you launch the app, the current location of your device that has "Find My iPhone" enabled will appear on the map. In addition, if you have multiple devices that share the same Apple ID, and/or you have Family Sharing set up on other family member devices, you will see the location of each device on the map.
The green dot indicates the device is located either through a cellular or Wi-Fi network, while the gray dot means the device is now offline. However if the device was brought online within the last 24 hours, the app shows its last known location and time on the map and under the name of the device in the list, respectively.
The blue dot represents a device that is currently locating itself on the map with the help of "Find My iPhone".
Even though you join Family Sharing, you still have the choice of whether or not to share your location with other family members.
To enable/disable the option, go to "Settings" > "iCloud" > "Share My Location", and tap "Share My Location" to turn it on/off. Then, select your family member to share your location, and tap "Share My Location". You can also remove people by tapping "Stop Sharing My Location".
In the device list, tap the device that you want to locate. The following steps will provide directions on how to track and find your lost device by using iPhone 6s.
The current location of the selected device is displayed on the full-screen map.
Once you tap "Actions" at the bottom of the screen, you will see the three buttons below the map: "Play Sound", "Lost Mode" and "Erase iPhone".
When you press on the car icon, you will be taken to the Maps app, which shows the route from your current location to your device's location. Tapping "Start" begins navigating to the destination.
With the tap of the "Play Sound" button, your iPhone will play an alerting sound so that you can easily find the device.
The iPhone rings the alarm at maximum volume for two minutes even when in silent mode.
So when you lose your iPhone, try the "Play Sound" option first, as you may have misplaced or lost it nearby.
"Lost Mode" allows you to lock your iPhone remotely to protect your data, as well as have your contact phone number and custom message displayed on the device.
To enable this option, select "Lost Mode" and then tap "Turn On Lost Mode".
Even though Location Services is disabled on your lost iPhone, "Find My iPhone" is capable of automatically turning the feature on when you put the device in Lost Mode. You can also activate the mode for an offline device, by receiving the activation request on the device when it comes to online.
- Set passcode
If you do not have a passcode set on your iPhone, the screen will prompt you to set one up.
Then, enter a 6-digit code.
- Enter phone number
Enter your phone number, which will be displayed on your lost iPhone, expecting that someone who found your phone will call you.
This is an optional setting, so you can skip this step by tapping "Next" without entering a phone number.
- Enter message
In here, you can add a message, such as your email address, to be displayed on the lost device's screen. Since this is also optional, you can skip ahead to the next step.
When you are finished writing the message, tap "Done" on the upper right of the screen.
By taking these steps, your lost device is now locked, and your phone number and custom message are shown on the device.
The missing iPhone in Lost Mode is supposed to show your custom message, phone number and the "Call" button on the locked screen.
Tapping "Call" will place a call to you. With the locked iPhone, your phone number is the only number that can be called from the device.
Setting Lost Mode may significantly increase the odds that your lost iPhone will be returned to you.
By turning on "Erase iPhone", you can initiate remote wipe to prevent your data from being stolen. Even with this feature enabled, it still allows the device to continue displaying your contact info on the locked screen.
On the iPhone running on iOS 7 or later, when you set up "Find My iPhone", Activation Lock is also enabled automatically, which requires you to enter your Apple ID and Password to perform the following operations:
- Disable "Find My iPhone"
- Sign out of iCloud
- Erase data from iPhone (reset to its default)
Activation Lock helps you keep your iPhone secure and prevents a stranger from using or selling the device when it is lost or stolen.
You can use "Find My iPhone" through a web browser as well. If you have lost your iPhone and do not have any other iOS device, access the service on your computer.
Access www.icloud.com on your computer, and click the Find iPhone app on the Home screen.
"Find My iPhone" through a desktop-based web browser supports almost the same features as those on your iOS devices except some minor differences.
]]> ]]>On the Home screen, tap "Settings" > "General" > "Siri" to open the Siri setting screen.
Tap on the toggle switch to turn on "Allow "Hey Siri".
Then, tap "Set Up Now".
Now speak to your iPhone following the on-screen prompts. There are five prompts to train Siri to recognize your voice. At each step once he/she learns your voice, you see a checkmark on the screen to move on the next step.
Tap "Done" to complete the setup.
You will be taken back to the Siri setting screen, then make sure if "Allow "Hey Siri"" is turned on.
"Hey Siri call Mother on speaker."
"Hey Siri" lets you make hands-free calls without touching your iPhone.
When you have misplaced or lost your iPhone nearby, simply say "Hey Siri where are you?" Then Siri will certainly response to your question and help you locate the device.
While only the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus can take Live Photos, they are viewable on devices running iOS 9 (iPhone 5s or later), Apple Watch with watchOS 2 and Macs using OS X El Capitan.
On the Home screen, open the Camera app. Live Photos, which is on by default, can be turned on/off by tapping the Live Photos button on the top-center of the screen (If it's yellow, it's on. If it's white, it's off).
When you tap the Take Picture button, as you tap it to take a normal photo, Live Photos starts capturing a subject. As Live Photos records a moving image of three seconds before and after you tap the button, for better results, you need to hold your iPhone steady while shooting.
During a Live Photos recording, the word "LIVE" in a yellow box is on the screen. When recording is finished, you hear an electric sound, and the sign will disappear from the screen.
No shutter sound will be heard.
Now, Live Photos taken with the iSight camera (on the rear) are available only in "Photo" mode, and "Square" and other modes are not supported for this feature. However, you can take a Live Photo with the FaceTime camera (on the front) too, allowing you to make your selfie more fun and exciting.
To view a Live Photo, tap the thumbnail image at the bottom left. By pressing down hard and holding on the screen, you can see the Live Photo start playing along with the audio.
Open a Live Photo in your "Camera Roll" or "Moments" in the Photos app. To open the full screen view, either tap the thumbnail image of the Live Photo, or press lightly to Peek at it and press harder to Pop into it. Then press down and hold on the full-screen photo to start the Live Photo animation.
"Press and hold" is not the only gesture to see your Live Photos in action. When you swipe through the full-screen photos to switch between the images, they do move, but very slightly.
As Live Photos played by a press and hold look somewhat the same as normal videos, you may feel this is more entertaining.
You can share your Live Photos via iMessage with devices running iOS 9 or watchOS 2, and Macs with OS X El Capitan, on which Live Photos can be viewed as animations. So far, the feature is not available for any third-party apps such as Facebook, and shared Live Photos are displayed as still images on those apps. However, as Apple has released the API for Live Photos, third-party app developers, like Facebook or LINE, will soon integrate the feature into their apps.
]]> ]]>In order to use iCloud Photo Library, you need to sign in to iCloud. To do so, launch the "Settings" app, and go to "iCloud", where you can sign in to your iCloud account.
On the Home screen, open the "Settings" app, and tap "Photos & Camera" under the Settings section.
Tap on the toggle switch to turn on "iCloud Photo Library". This will start to sync your photos to iCloud.
Once you enable iCloud Photo Library, any photos and videos synced with iTunes will be removed from your iPhone as well as other iOS devices.
When the sync starts, the status of this process is shown on the Photos & Camera setting screen.
While the sync is in process, if you run the Photos app, you can see your photos and videos added to that app one after another.
Select your preferred data format prior to downloading your photos from iCloud onto your device.
Optimize iPhone Storage - Your iPhone will store lower-resolution photos and videos locally (resolution level is determined by the device's available storage space), with options to keep the original, full-resolution format in iCloud.
Download and Keep Originals - Your photos will be stored in the original, full-resolution format on your device.
If you turn on the "Optimize iPhone Storage" option, image data on your iPhone will be compressed to nearly one tenth of the original data. Optimal photo resolution varies depending on your remaining storage space, so your image data may be compressed to less than one tenth of the original size. These optimized photos will result in a level of image quality that can view the thumbnails in your Photos app with no difficulty.
In thumbnail view, tap on an image to make it full-screen, and you may find the image quality quite poor. However, at the same time, the higher-quality version of the photo is downloaded with a download-progress icon at the bottom right corner, which will bring the better, sharper image.
Plus, pinching out on the photo to full-screen or tapping "Edit" lets you display the completely original version of the photo.
* Some photos are already downloaded in the original format. Whether or not your photo resolution is adjusted can be determined based on the photo size and how much storage space is available on your device.
It is possible to use iCloud Photo Library along with My Photo Stream. If you have both enabled on a device, then all your photos and videos will be stored in your All Photos in one place, without creating the My Photo Stream subfolder in Albums in your Photos app on the device.
One of the good things about using iCloud Photo Library and My Photo Stream in combination is that you can upload your photos and videos to any computer/device that does not interact with iCloud Photo Library such as Windows PC.
Enabling iCloud Photo Library allows you to access it through a web browser on your computer as well.
Access www.icloud.com on your computer, and enter your Apple ID and password to sign in to your iCloud account.
Click the Photos app, as your iPhone's built-in apps and iWork apps are shown on the Home screen.
Now your photos/videos stored in your Photos app are listed as thumbnails on the screen. In here, not only can you view them, but you can manage them such as by uploading or downloading.
]]> ]]>On the Home screen, tap "Settings".
Then, tap "General".
Tap "Auto-Lock" under the General section.
Tap on your preferred time period to place a checkmark on it.
Incidentally, if you enable iOS 9's new Low Power Mode, it sets the Auto-Lock time to 30 seconds.
As for the iPad, there are five options available for choosing the Auto-Lock time period: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes and Never.
When you open Notification Center, it shows you the remaining battery life of your iPhone as well as Apple Watch, as seen in the screenshot.
Needless to say, you can remove the battery widget from your Notification Center, if it annoys you. To do so, tap the "Edit" , and then tap the white minus (-) icon (in red) next to "Batteries" to get rid of it.
This widget is quite handy, as you can easily check the battery level of your Apple Watch on your iPhone. On the other hand, some may think, "Is it really necessary to show iPhone's battery level in Notification Center along with other connected accessories?"
Just as a suggestion, the widget can be useful when your status bar is getting crowded with too many icons like in the screenshot.
You hide the battery percentage in your status bar, so that you can keep it as uncluttered as possible. Then, check the battery status of your iPhone by simply sliding down Notification Center, only when you want to know its exact battery level.
However, this battery widget only shows up if you have an Apple Watch or other Bluetooth accessory paired with/connected to your iPhone. Incidentally, the widget is unavailable on iPads.
Besides, in iOS 9, there is a new dedicated Battery section in Settings, where you can turn on/off the option to display the battery percentage in the status bar.
On the Home screen, open the "Settings" app, and tap "Touch ID & Passcode".
Tap "Turn Passcode On".
Enter a 6-digit code, and then enter it again to verify it.
In iOS 9, you can set a new, alphanumeric passcode in "Passcode Options", by choosing a combination of letters and numbers, letters or numbers alone, or a four-digit number. However, if you use only letters for your passcode, you may feel the keyboard is too small to type when you enter the letters. Also, if your passcode includes both letters and numbers, switching the keyboard would be tedious. Since passcode is a thing that you use every day, a numerical passcode is likely to be more suitable for practical use.
Once you have set a passcode, you will be taken back to the Touch ID & Passcode screen, where you can see if the words "Turn Passcode On" have changed to Turn Passcode Off.
Wake up your iPhone and slide to unlock, then you will be asked to enter your passcode. Passcode will be required also in other situations where security is important, such as when powering the iPhone, or updating your device to the latest iOS version.
Setting a passcode makes the data protection available for your device. Your passcode will be used as a key to encrypt email messages or attached files on your iPhone using 256-bit AES.
In the Touch ID & Passcode section, you can manage the following advanced settings:
Turn Passcode Off
Change Passcode
Require Passcode: You can set a time interval before the passcode screen becomes active after the iPhone goes to sleep mode. There are several options for the time interval ranging from "Immediately" to "After 4 hours".
For example, if you set the time interval to "After 5 minutes", then you can bypass the passcode screen for five minutes after the device enters sleep mode.
Voice Dial: Even while Siri is disabled, you can still make a call from the lock screen using the Voice Control feature, which you can deactivate by turning the Voice Dial switch to off.
The difference between Siri and Voice Control is their way of getting information. Siri looks up online resources, while Voice Control works offline. When you disable Siri, Voice Control automatically comes up.
So, turning "Voice Dial" off helps prevent from accidental dialing such as pocket dialing.
ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOKED: Under this menu, enabling the option allows you to access the feature/app from the lock screen without providing the passcode.
Erase Data: With this option turned on, if an incorrect passcode is entered ten times consecutively, your iPhone settings and data will be reset to its default.
Open any app that you can type in like Notes, type whatever you want, and press hard on the keyboard. Then, the keyboard will turn into a trackpad, allowing you to move the cursor through your finger movements.
To select a word, move the cursor to the desired word, and without lifting your finger from the screen, press hard on the trackpad.
Then, if you press hard on the same area again, you can select a sentence.
An additional hard-press of the same area allows you to select a paragraph.
When you select a word, sentence and paragraph, maintaining a fast and smooth pace for each operation (press hard on the trackpad) is the key to the success of this selection flow.
You can select a single word by placing the cursor anywhere on the text and press hard on the trackpad. Then, with your finger pressing down hard on it, if you move your finger over the text, highlight on the text follows the movement, selecting a series of words.
You can only select word, not letter, with this operation. If you want to select a letter or a sequence of letters, you will have to highlight it/them in the same way before upgrading to iPhone 6s / 6s Plus.
If you tap on the text that you highlighted with the trackpad, then the edit menu will appear on the screen.
This trackpad helps you move or position the cursor effortlessly even in a narrow area, such as the address bar in Safari.
3D Touch, what an amazing feature...
On the Home screen, tap "Settings" > "General" > "Accessibility" > "3D Touch".
On this screen, you can disable 3D Touch by turning the toggle switch to off.
There are three levels of pressure sensitivity, Light, Medium and Firm. After selecting one of the options, try it out on the sample image provided at the bottom.
This way, you can test the different levels of sensitivity to see which one works best for you.
